Who is Lucille?
The name Lucille was first used in Albuquerque, New Mexico for
a theatrical production company back in the early to mid 1980s.
Lucille Productions was formed by two women anxious to put their talents to work
on high quality plays that had substance and a message. Tired
of waiting for someone else to discover these scripts, or to believe
in the ones they had found, Page Coleman and Barbara Brust created
their own company. These energetic women complemented eachothers
talents perfectly. Their gemini energy and their love of live
theatre brought about several productions that played to critical
acclaim. In time, they both found themselves with a dream that
would take them to the California coast. So Lucille loaded up
the trucks and headed out west. The sad part was that Barbara
headed to the Bay Area, and Page ended up in San Diego. And so,
the name Lucille had to wait for another genesis.
But does that tell me who Lucille is?
Actually, I guess it does not. Sorry. Well, when these two women
were trying to figure out a name for the company, it was discovered
that one of them had this character that went through life with
them and would pop up at the most convenient times. Say one of
mom's pieces of china was broken mysteriously. When queried as
to what might have happened, they would offer, Lucille must have
done it. Or say company was going to be coming over in an hour
and the house was still a mess. Yup, that's right, don't worry,
Lucille will help us clean up. To be honest, I cannot tell you
why it made sense, it just did. Lucille would have to be the name. |
